Educational Programmes

The Preschool Programme aims to prepare your child for transition to school and life long skills by providing fun and exciting experiences to meet the needs and interests of the child. We support your child by offering opportunities to learn and develop with varied programming. Some of the areas we focus on are:

  • to gain self confidence, self esteem and independence
  • to adjust to being away from home
  • to belong to a group, e.g. sharing and turn taking
  • to care for their belongings and themselves e.g. toileting and dressing
  • to recognise their name in print
  • basic understanding of colour, shape, number, science
  • to relate to unfamiliar adults
  • to develop friendships
  • to have fun and enjoy learning......and much more.

Knowing the alphabet and counting to ten is not all that a child needs to know to cope well at school. The pre-school activities foster development of social-emotional, physical, language as well as cognitive (intellectual) skills.

Daily Programme

Each day the children are involved in a variety of activities planned to meet their social-emotional, physical, cognitive (intellectual) and language needs. Our programme is based on the recognition of the value of play, believing that young children learn best by 'doing'. Both indoor and outdoor activities are planned, as well as music/movement and story/language time. After lunch, the children have a quiet time period, before playing again.
